Officers and Management

Ronald Pantin (Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director)
Mr. Pantin worked in the Venezuelan oil industry for twenty-three years prior to founding Pacific Rubiales. Mr. Pantin has held a number of senior positions within Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), most recently being President of PDVSA Services. Immediately after PDVSA, Mr. Pantin was President of Enron Venezuela. He began his professional career with Maraven, and affiliate of PDVSA where he held a variety of positions including Exploration & Production Planning Manager, Petroleum Engineering Manager, Treasurer, Operations Manager in the Production Division, and Corporate Planning Manager.

Jose Francisco Arata (President and Executive Director)
Mr. Arata has over twenty-seven years of experience in mineral and oil exploration in a number of countries in Latin America. He began his professional career with Maraven, where he held a variety of positions within the Exploration & Production Department. He has been working in the Colombian oil industry since 1996 and he was CEO and co-founder of Pacific Stratus Energy and Bolivar Gold Corp.

Carlos Perez (Chief Financial Officer)
Mr. Perez is a Certified Public Accountant with over twenty-eight years experience in the oil and gas sector. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Perez held a number of executive positions with Venezuelan companies including Petrolago, S.A. (oil and gas contractor) and Vengas S.A. (leading LPG Venezuela distributor). He also held senior positions within PDVSA, including Corporate Comptroller and Finance Manager of Maraven, S.A.

Eduardo Lima (Sr. Vice President, Projects Development)
Mr. Lima has twenty-five years of experience in the oil and gas sector. He held a number of senior positions within PDVSA including Corporate Planning, Business Development for heavy oil projects in the Orinoco Belt, joint ventures with Conoco, Total and Chevron, and was Managing Director of PDVSA SOFIP. Mr. Lima also served as Senior Technical Vice President of Enron Venezuela.

Luis Andres Rojas (Sr. Vice President, Production)
Mr. Rojas is a Petroleum Engineer with over twenty-nine years of experience in the Venezuelan energy sector. He has held a number of executive positions including President of PDVSA Intevep (Research and Development Institute), Vice President of PDVSA Gas, and President of CADAFE, Venezuela's main power generation and distribution company. Mr. Rojas also served as Managing Director of Corporacion Venezolana de Guayana, Venezuela's state-owned corporation for mining and hydropower generation.

Marino Ostos (Sr. Vice President, New Areas)
Dr. Ostos received his degree in geological engineering from the Central University of Venezuela and his MA and PhD from Rice University in Houston, Texas. Dr. Ostos has over thirty years of experience in the oil and gas industry, focusing on exploration projects in fold and thrust belts. He has been a Professor of Geology at the Central University of Venezuela, is one of the founders and a Director of Litos CA, a Venezuelan oil and gas service company, and was a member of the Board at Fairfield Industries in Venezuela.

Jairo Lugo (Sr. Vice President, Exploration)
Dr. Lugo is a basin and a petroleum system analyst with twenty-five years of experience in the South American oil industry. His strengths focus on basin analysis and prospect evaluation. He has a wide breadth of experience in analyzing complex tectonic areas in folded belts and other geological environments.

Daniel Loureiro (Sr. Vice President, Geosciences)
Dr. Loureiro holds a PhD in Geology from the University of New York. He has more than twenty-eight years of experience in the oil industry and his experience has allowed him to develop a thorough knowledge of the oil basins of central and northern South America, particularly those in Venezuela, Colombia, Trinidad and Mexico. He worked for PDVSA INTEVEP, and was Technical Manager for PDVSA Corporacion Venezolana de Guayana. In September 2005 he joined Pacific Stratus Energy in the position of Vice President of New Business. He is also a Professor at the Geology Department of the Universidad Central de Venezuela.

Luis Pacheco (Sr. Vice President, Planning)
Dr. Pacheco has over twenty-seven years of experience in the energy industry, including seventeen years in the Venezuelan oil industry. While at PDVSA, he held a number of senior positions including Managing Director of BITOR and Executive Director of Corporate Planning. He holds a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College, University of London (1981). Prior to joining the company, he was a special advisor on strategy and energy to the Presidency of CANTV (2005-2007). For a number of years Dr. Pacheco lectured at Universidad Simon Bolivar and he is presently a Visiting Lecturer at the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administracion and UNIANDES.

William Mauco (Sr. Vice President, Trading)
Mr. Mauco is an electronics engineer with thirty-two years of experience in the oil and gas industry, mainly with PDVSA in which he held several senior positions, including Strategic Planning Manager of the company's Downstream Division, Commercial Director of PDVSA and Managing Director of PDVSA's Financial Investment affiliate (SOFIP). Mr. Mauco was also President of the Board of Deltaven, Vice President of Corporación Venezolana del Petróleo, and a Board Member of PDVSA's joint ventures: Nynas of Sweden, Isla Refinery in Curazao and Bonaire Petroleum Corporation. He joined Enron Venezuela as Vice President of New Business Development, Trigeant Petroleum in USA as Marketing Director. He also worked for International Oil Trading Company as Vice President of Business Development until he joined Pacific Rubiales.

Nelson Lee (Sr. Vice President, Financial)
Mr. Lee has over twelve years of experience as a Chartered Accountant. He has held senior financial positions for TSX and NASDAQ publicly-listed multinational companies. Mr. Lee is experienced in regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions and the raising of capital.

Peter Volk (General Counsel and Secretary)
Mr. Volk has been a lawyer for over twenty years, focusing on the resource sector for the past twelve years. He has served as general counsel to a number of resource issuers, many with operations in Colombia. Previously, Mr. Volk worked in the Securities Group at Blake, Cassels & Graydon in Toronto and then in Tokyo at Anderson Mori, Japan's largest law firm.
